FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments Americas sites confirmed
MIAMI (United States) – The 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments Americas will be played in the cities of Santiago del Estero and La Banda, Argentina, between August 14 and 20.
MIAMI (United States) – The 2023 FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments Americas will be played in the cities of Santiago del Estero and La Banda, Argentina, between August 14 and 20, the FIBA Regional Office in the Americas announced.
Each city will host one group. The Group A games will take place at Santiago del Estero Stadium and Group B will be played at the Vicente Rosales de La Banda Stadium. The two stadiums are only 10 kilometers apart for the convenience of the fans.
The Semifinals and the Final will take place in Santiago del Estero.
The eight participating national teams in the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournaments are those who did not advance in the FIBA World Cup Americas Qualifiers campaign.
Group A hosts the teams from Argentina, Bahamas, Cuba and Panama. And Group B is made up of Chile, Colombia, Virgin Islands and Uruguay. Argentina will also play a game at La Banda, they will meet Cuba on August 17 at Estadio Vicente Rosales.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Semifinals. The winners will play in the Final and the winner will get the only available spot to join the 19 FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 teams that will compete in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments from July 2-7, 2024.
