Having won an opening thriller in Benxi 72-70 behind a 17-point tally from the legendary Lauren Jackson, the Opals also took game two in Shenyang, with China making it a case of third time lucky by taking honors in the last meeting.
Australia took an 80-72 triumph in Shenyang, with forward duo Cayla George and Zitina Aokuso both doing the business. The former racked up a fine15 points and 10 rebounds, while Aokuso top scored with 20 points. Having led by as many as 16, the Opals held off a late rescue bid from the hosts who were driven by 19 points from Siyu Wang.
Under pressure to avoid an unthinkable clean sweep, China came alive in game three to give the home fans something to cheer in Shenyang as they came from behind to win 75-68.
