    China assemble for 18-player training camp in preparation for Tokyo Olympics Games

    BEIJING (China) - The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) formally announced the training camp roster for the Tokyo Olympic Games which will be held in July later this year.

    The training camp includes 18 players ranging from familiar stars like Shao Ting, Han Xu, Li Yueru and Li Meng. However, the program has also decided to add some more youth into the mix by naming two players who are currently playing at the collegiate level, Liu Yutong and Tang Ziting.

    China are among the top 10 teams in the world according to the FIBA World Ranking presented by Nike and have continuously showcased their high level of play at the global stage. In the two previous editions of the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cups in 2014 and 2018, China placed at 6th both times. 

    The women’s basketball tournament of the Tokyo Olympic Games will be held from July 26 to August 8 this year at the Saitama Super Arena. China were drawn to be placed in Group C along with Puerto Rico, Australia, and Belgium.

    China will also be playing in the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup 2021 which will be held from September 26 to October 3 in search of revenge after losing in the Final to Japan in 2019.
