Serbia v France
These teams have faced each other a lot the past couple of years. At the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup, France won their meeting in the Group Phase but Serbia beat them in the Semi-Finals. Last year, the French defeated the Serbians in the Third-Place Game at the EuroBasket. Before winning their respective FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, France and Serbia played twice. They also met in Cordoba, Argentina, just several days before the start of the Rio de Janeiro Games. Both teams have lost to Australia in Group A while France have beaten China and Serbia have overcome Venezuela.
Australia v USA
Some will suggest this is the USA's first test of the entire summer. The Americans certainly haven't been threatened here in Rio in big wins over China and Venezuela, although the latter did push Mike Krzyzewski's team hard in the first quarter before being blown out, 113-69. Australia have four players - Pat Mills, Aron Baynes, Andrew Bogut and Matthew Dellavedova - that have won NBA titles. They should not be pushovers. Will they have a chance against the two-time defending champions?
Venezuela v China
The last game of the night is an intriguing battle of 0-2 teams, sides that won titles last summer. Venezuela were the surprise winners of the FIBA Americas Championship in Mexico City while China hosted and won the FIBA Asia Championship. Each side goes into this game believing it must win to stay alive in the hunt for a Quarter-Final place.
