After a huge week of competition, two Australians, two New Zealanders and one Samoan have scooped All-Star Five honours.
Australia – Roman Siulepa
The 6’5” Australian forward was a powerhouse performer throughout the week, finishing with an average of 18.8 points, 9 rebounds and 4.4 assists. He was one of the tournament’s top performers who has been building on his game nicely following the 2022 FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup. His leadership on and off the court was evident and in the gold medal match, he was unstoppable, finishing with 30 points.
Samoa – Elika Tutagalevao
The top performer of the tournament, Tutagalevao rounded out his championship campaign to finish with an average of 17.2 points, 15 rebounds and 3 assists. Prolific in and under the rim at both ends of the court, Tutagalevao was an instrumental part of the Samoan group who looked to him for inspiration during gritty match moments.
New Zealand – Julius Halaifonua
Another forward in the All-Star Five selection, Halaifonua was a force in and under the rim for the Junior Tall Blacks throughout the week. His match of the of the tournament was during the group phase against Australia where he landed 21 points and hit up 9 rebounds.
Australia – Jacob Furphy
Leading the tournament with the most assists (4.8 average), Furphy stepped up for the Australians in clutch moments to earn All-Star Five selection. With an average of over 60 percent in 2-pointers, he worked hard across the court, leading his team to gold.
New Zealand – Tamatoa Isaac
With a tournament average of 10.2 points 5.2 rebounds and 4.6 assists, Isaac showed leadership and poise for Team New Zealand at Sir John Guise Arena. The consistent guard worked hard and played a pivotal roll in his team’s silver medal achievement.
