MIAMI (NBA) - The Miami Heat fought back from a late deficit to beat the Chicago Bulls in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

The 83-80 victory sealed a 4-1 series triumph and has set up another title showdown between the Heat and the Dallas Mavericks.

Miami beat Dallas in the 2006 NBA Finals, 4-2.

Trailing 77-65 with about three minutes to go on Thursday evening in Chicago, Dwyane Wade hit a runner and then made a layup to ignite an 18-3 Heat run to close the game.

Chicago seemed to be in control but Miami refused to lose.

"Defense, staying together - we've been in these situations before throughout the season where we've been down late in the fourth and just buckled down and executed," Heat star LeBron James said.

After the shots by Wade, a three-ball by James closed the gap to 77-72 with just over two minutes to go.

Following a spin move in the lane and basket by Chicago's Derrick Rose, the league MVP, Wade hit a shot from the arc at the other end and was fouled by Rose on the play.

The Chicago native sank the free-throw for the four-point play.

James knotted the contest at 79 with another three-ball with a minute left, and then connected from 21 feet to put the Heat on top 81-79.

Rose shortly after made just one of two free-throws after being fouled by James.

Chris Bosh, who like James joined the Heat last summer as a free agent, drilled two free-throws for an 83-80 advantage.

Chicago brought sharpshooter Kyle Korver into the game but closely guarded with the final seconds ticking away, he passed to Rose and the Bulls point guard had his potential game-tying three-pointer blocked by James.

"They played great defense, so it was hard to get good shots," said Chicago's NBA Coach of the Year Tom Thibodeau.

"My hat's off to 'em. I thought they played tough, they earned it and we've got to get a lot better next year."
