MIAMI (USA) – During the Basketball Champions League Americas Season 6’s Group Phase, most of the teams that were favorites in their respective groups lived up to expectations and secured their spots in the Quarterfinals. While teamwork is what sets the tone, certain players who were expected to step up embraced the responsibility and delivered key performances for their teams' success. Without them, their clubs might not be in the strong positions they currently hold. Here are the most valuable players from each group:
Group A: Jezreel De Jesús - Real Estelí
PTS: 23.5 | 3P: 41.5% | REB: 4.0 | AST: 3.5 | STL: 1.2 | EFF: 21.5 The Puerto Rican guard proved that his nickname, “Macho,” suits him perfectly, as he was the decisive player for his team. He was Real Estelí’s top scorer and the second-leading scorer in the entire league. In Stage 3, he dropped 32 and 25 points in back-to-back games, helping Estelí win both and clinch their qualification. Dominican guard Víctor Liz (Paisas) also had a strong case for the Group A MVP after leading the league in scoring (27.5 PPG) and efficiency (21.8), but he played two fewer games, and his team finished second in the group.
Group B: Alexey Borges - Flamengo
PTS: 13.0 | 3P: 53.3% | AST: 7.3 | REB: 2.8 | STL: 2.3 | EFF: 19.3 The point guard was by far Flamengo’s most efficient player and the standout of Group B. While he didn’t play in the last two games, his team had already secured a spot in the next stage and first place in the group by then. Borges delivered when it mattered most. The 29-year-old finished as the league leader in steals and second in assists.
Group C: Luis Montero - Minas Tenis Clube
PTS: 10.8 | 3P: 47.1% | REB: 7.5 | STL: 1.2 | BLK: 1.0 | EFF: 16.7 The Dominican forward had a quiet Group Phase 3, but like Borges, he put in the work early, helping Minas clinch qualification and the top spot in the group. For reference, the former NBA player with the Portland Trail Blazers averaged 20.8 points and 9.8 rebounds in 27 minutes per game across the first four matchups. In Group Phase 3, his minutes were limited to 17, but he still finished as the highest-rated player on his team and in Group C.
Group D: Georginho De Paula - SESI Franca
PTS: 12.5 | 2P: 59.3% | REB: 8.2 | AST: 6.7 | BLK: 1.2 | EFF: 21.3 De Paula was the only player to be named to the All-Star Five in all three stages of the Group Phase, making him the undeniable MVP of Group D. Even though SESI Franca had already secured qualification and first place before Group Phase 3, just like Flamengo and Minas, Georginho maintained his high level of intensity and continued to contribute across the board. He is also the only player in the league ranked in the top three in both rebounds and assists. FIBA
