STOCKHOLM (Sweden) - Montenegro took another step in their basketball history as they advanced to FIBA EuroBasket 2025, making it the country's third straight appearance in the continent's biggest tournament and fifth in the last six editions.
The Balkan nation only began competing under the Montenegrin flag in 2008 and have already become a strong basketball side with a mix of elite players and solid role players.
Montenegro qualified after Germany defeated Bulgaria to ensure their place in the top three was confirmed, despite going on to suffer a nail-biting overtime defeat to Sweden.

Qualifiers heroes
Marko Simonovic and Vladimir Mihailovic have been so critical for Montenegro throughout the Qualifiers, while Nemanja Radovic has served as a major contributor as well. Jonah Radebaugh excelled in taking over as the naturalized playmaker following Kendrick Perry's departure from the team.
History
Montenegro securing their spot at FIBA EuroBasket 2025 means the Balkan nation will be playing in the continent's top competition for the third straight time and fifth in the last six editions. They only missed the EuroBasket in 2015.
Montenegro finished 21st and 17th in their first two appearances but have reached the top 16 in both of the last EuroBaskets - finishing 13th in both 2017 and 2022.
