As Team Mexico gets ready for the FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas, in which they will be playing against the best teams from this side of the World. One of their best, Omar Quintero, with his quickness and peculiar shots attempts over bigger men, is Mexico’s main weapon on their way to achieve some ground-breaking results.

With the FIBA Americas Championship getting near, how are you feeling physically?

I’m felling great, in my peak almost; we have been working very hard to get to the event in the best shape possible.

Team Mexico has been very active lately, participating in a series of exhibition games, how have you prepared for each one of those?

I can tell you that we always get ready with the same intensity and focus for each game, without slowing down because of the other team’s quality level. Our objective is to keep our game as constant as possible.

How do you think Coach Richardson’s arrival has helped to improve the team?

As you know, basketball is 40 minutes in Hell. However, I play fast and his game system (both offense and defense) are based on quickness, so I hasn’t been difficult for me to make the transition. He’s just simply making the most out of my potential in that sense.

Next week, you will be facing Boca Juniors (Argentinean champion club), how do you think this game will help you on your way to Las Vegas’ tournament?

For us it will be more a game of preparation, although there is some similarities between their game style and that of Team Argentina, which will really help us a lot. Nonetheless, it won’t be easy to face them.

Which of your best moves we will be seeing in Mexico City?

I promise the “flotadora” or floater, which is one of my favorites.

How do you see your future after the FIBA Americas Championship?

I’ve had some offers from the LNBP (Mexico’s national league), Italy, and Spain; but I there is nothing concrete yet.

Some words for Team Mexico’s fans.

Simply put, to keep supporting us. This is a team with a different mindset, a new face, and which, I’m sure, will be providing them with lots of satisfaction.
