MUNICH (Germany) - Claire Melia has seen her outstanding contributions for the history-making BAXI Ferrol recognized after she was crowned the EuroCup Women MVP for March. The Irish standout has been playing some of the best basketball of her career for the Spanish side, who are just one step away from a historic first ever EuroCup Women title in what is their very first season in the competition.
Melia averaged a performance efficiency valuation of 19.7 during the month, having tallied an all-action 17.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.
In the Semi-Finals against LDCL ASVEL Feminin, Melia proved unstoppable and poured in 40 points across the two legs.
On fire in the stunning 93-62 home win during the first matchup, the frontcourt ace paced her team with a massive 27-point effort that also saw her grab 4 boards and hand out 3 dimes. While Ferrol ended up falling in the second leg in France by 74-63, Melia ensured her team were still able to continue their amazing season and move on to the Finals. She came up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to make sure ASVEL didn't overturn the deficit from the first leg.
Stepping into the first leg of the Finals matchup with Villeneuve d'Ascq which saw Ferrol edged out 78-75, Melia was a towering figure for her side in a sensational game. She kept her team's hopes of silverware intact by registering 12 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the contest.
