    Fiji went down in a nail bitter to New Caledonia on Day 1, they have bounced back with a big win against Solomon Islands. A good start to the game set up an eventual 17-point victory by the 2015 Pacific Games silver medalists. This win keeps Fiji's Cup hopes alive, they are sitting in second tied with New Caledonia on 1 win and 1 loss. If Fiji can upset Papua New Guinea they will keep their cup hopes alive creating a potential three-way tie for first place.

    Papua New Guinea remains undefeated after 7-point victory against New Caledonia. With the game tied after the first quarter, the home fans knew they were in for a close one. With a decent lead, Papua New Guinea was able to fight off a 29 point last quarter from New Caledonia to finish 2-0 after Day 2. If they can hold off tough Fiji team they will guarantee a chance to keep the first ever Melanesia Cup in PNG.
