    FRANCA (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018) - Host Franca (Brazil) and Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba (Argentina) began their participation in the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018 with celebrations, after defeating Leones de Quilpué (Chile) and Aguada (Uruguay), respectively, on the opening day of Group A.

    David Jackson and Andre Goes, with 16 points each, took the baton in the attack of Franca, who gave a forceful demonstration to its fans at the Pedrocao, when the Brazilian team defeated the Chilean team 90-63.

    The owner of the house clearly showed its superiority from the middle of the first quarter, when they began to capture on offense with an effective circulation of the ball and extra passes. The first three periods favored those led by Helinho Garcia with scores of 21-13, 24-10 and 26-13, which allowed them to a comfortable lead in the scoreboard.

    The Sao Pablo team totaled 13 three-pointers and 21 assists.

    Evandro Arteaga was the best man for the team from Quilpué with 21.

    In the first game of the night, Instituto defeated Aguada 75-68, in an exciting match that had alternatives for side and side. After a first half in which the Uruguayans finished in front 38-37, the Argentines established the rhythm in the third quarter with a 24-15 quarter, that gave them a 61-53 advantage.

    The defense, the ability of Leandro García Morales to find his teammates (he finished with 10 assists) and the good execution with the ball (only five losses in the whole commitment), were the keys for Instituto to cement the advantage.

    Luciano Gonzalez ratified his good moment to lead the offensive with 22 points.

    Facundo Piñero added 11 points, Sam Clancy 10 and Pablo Espinoza highlighted with 14 rebounds.

    For Aguada, pivot Ricardo Glenn contributed a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds and Federico Pereiras added 14 units, with four triples.

     After the first day of Group A competition, Franca and Instituto share the first place of the group, which grants two tickets to the next instance.

    This Wednesday, Leones will face Instituto and Aguada will take on the host.
