Semi-Final Phase: Cimarrones still have chances, Guaros remain perfect

BARQUISIMETO (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017) –Cimarrones added its first win of the Semi-Final Phase and Guaros de Lara kept a perfect record after two outings in the Second Semi-final group of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017.

Cimarrones held pressure of a fast approaching Quilmes and leveled its record following a 93-88 win over the Argentinian team. Quilmes won the first half with a slight lead, but in the third quarter, Cimarrones took control of the scoreboard with a gigantic performance from Rodriguez, who had 29 points in the game. With less than 3 minutes to go, Cimarrones had a 12-point lead, but Quilmes started to chip away from the difference with great actions from Ruiz, who had 23 points in the game. With less than 30 seconds left, the difference was of three points, Quilmes couldn’t hit from long-range and the Colombian team celebrated the win.

Guaros de Lara extended its Semi-Final record to 2-0, after an 80-67 win over Aguada. The home team took control of the scoreboard during the first quarter and never let go of the lead. Aguada fought hard, with great performances from Smith and Curtis, who combined for 32 of the team’s points. Guaros coulnd’t get comfortable with their lead, as Aguada kept trimming the difference. Led offensively by a 22-point performance from Heisler Guillent, Guaros celebrated the win.

Tomorrow on the last day of the second Semi-Final group, Aguada will face Cimarrones and Quilmes will face Guaros de Lara

The top team from the group will advance to face Estudiantes in the Final of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2017.
