ESTELÍ (DIRECTV Liga de las Américas) — Nicaraguan squad Real Estelí will have a great Puerto Rican influence for their participation at the DIRECTV Liga de las Américas 2019. The club announced signing Boricua coach Carlos González, as well as players Jared, Ruiz, Miguel Alí Berdiel, Isaac Soza and Guillermo Díaz, all of them from the same island.

Estelí, a team that won their right to participate at the continental stage after winning the Central American Champion Clubs Cup, will participate within Group B at Mexico City, at Juan de la Barrera Olympic Gymnasium, from January 25 to 27.

Their rivals will be hosts Capitanes (Mexico), Soles de Mexicali (also from Mexico) and Franca (Brazil), who were recent crowned as champions of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018, which ended in December.

The club, locally known as “el Tren del Norte (the Northern Rail)” wish to leave their mark in the Mexican capital and have already been training for two weeks, during which coach González has been trying to set in motion all the pieces in the best way possible.

Aside from the Puerto Rican reinforcements, the Nicas of the team are Jonathan Martínez; siblings Dalton and Dayton Cacho, Ramón and Noel Mckenzie; and the current spearhead of the Central American team, Bartel López.
