BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia continued its efforts in developing mentors and aspirants after successfully organizing a Level 1 coaching course in Macau.

Held from 26 to 31 August ,  a total of 15 participants attended the 6-day program made possible in cooperation with the Macau - China Basketball Association.

Taught through theoretical and practical approaches, the course commenced with classroom sessions, and was then followed by on-court work for immediate application.

Those who took part in the coaching course expressed gratitude for the entire experience, all of them believing that it would only be beneficial not just for their personal growth as coaches, but for the development of Macau basketball, in general, moving forward.

"As what this course taught us, coaches need to be good models to cultivate the next generation of players," offered Lam Teng Long, one of the attendees. "I hope that I can also become an outstanding coach and cultivate the next generation of Macau basketball.”

Another participant in Leong Wai Ip said that it was not only through the whole course where he picked up lessons, but from his fellow coaches who attended as well.

"It inspired me to reflect on my coaching style and there is still a lot of room for improvement. Furthermore, since all our classmate are experienced coaches with different backgrounds and coaching styles, we also learnt from each other by observing," he said.

"The experience and knowledge gained in this clinic are valuable and I look forward to executing my learnings in my future coaching life," he furthered.

Tam Tek Sang echoed his fellow coach. "Interacting with other coaches also provided a unique opportunity to learn from their diverse experiences and perspectives," he said.

"This course not only honed my coaching skills but also deepened my passion for the game," he added. "I am excited to apply what I've learned to help my team grow and succeed."

These coaching courses are part of the Regional Office’s efforts to improve the National Federations, including the bench tacticians, who are an integral part of basketball games.
