BEIRUT (Lebanon) - The FIBA Regional Office-Asia on Friday, April 18, has confirmed that Zouk Mikael is set to host the much awaited FIBA West Asia Super League (FIBA WASL) Final 8 2025 on May 10-18.
The games will be held at the Stade Nouhad Naufal, marking yet another significant event to be played at the venue that has previously hosted major FIBA competitions including the FIBA Asia Cup 2017.
The site most recently played host to both rounds of the 2025 FIBA WASL-West Asia League, which concluded with Al Riyadi coming out on top to win the title for an unprecedented third successive time.
Al Riyadi are now out to defend the FIBA WASL championship they snared last year in Qatar, where they outlasted long-time domestic rivals Sagesse SC through a 100-90 overtime win in a Final befitting of a title bout.
Both the Lebanese Basketball Championship outfits will once again banner the West Asia League ensemble in this season's Final 8, along with defending Iran Basketball League champions Tabiat Basketball.
Making up the FIBA WASL-Gulf League cast, on the other hand, are newly crowned Sub-Zone League titlists Shabab Al Ahli of UAE, Ittihad Club of Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait's own Al Qadsia SC.
Completing the field for the pan-regional competition's culminating event are SABA Club Championship winners Tamil Nadu of India and CABA representatives BC Astana of Kazakhstan.
The groupings and schedule will be announced soon.
The Final 8 teams will be divided into two groups, each consisting of four teams. The top two teams from each group will progress to the Semi-Finals, while the third and fourth-placed teams will be eliminated.
Subsequently, the winners of the Semi-Finals will advance to the Final to vie for the championship, with the losing sides set to meet in the Third-Place Game as all gamedays of the meet will feature double-headers.
The two finalists will earn a spot in the Basketball Champions League Asia (BCL Asia) 2025, the highest club competition in the continent. The date and venue of which will be announced on a later date.
