Laetitia Guapo drives France to the win against rivals Spain in the World Cup

Revenge wasn’t served this time around as reigning champions France picked up an 8-14 win against a contending Spain side to remain unbeaten on Day 1 of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.

VIENNA (Austria) - Revenge wasn’t served this time around as reigning champions France picked up an 8-14 win against a contending Spain side to remain unbeaten on Day 1 of the 2023 FIBA 3x3 World Cup.

Last year, it was France who nailed the dagger in OT against Spain in the Quarter Finals of the 2022 World Cup on their way to win Gold. Bringing together a new-look side this time, Spain hoped to right the wrongs of last year in their opening game.

While it was a closely contested affair initially, even leading 6-4 early on, it didn’t take long for Les Bleues to catch fire. Spain had no answer for Hortense Limouzin and Marie-Eve Paget while MVP Guapo got straight buckets.

Tough opener for Spain as they’ll look to bounce back today against Austria while the champs end their Day 1 unbeaten.

Action keeps rolling today with lots more to come.
