MOSCOW - Russian legend Andrei Kirilenko on Monday was unanimously elected president of the Russian Basketball Federation (RBF), two months after terminating his highly-decorated career as a player.

Kirilenko received all 215 votes as the sole candidate for the position after Dmitry Domani, the Russian national team's general manager and also a former player, decided to withdraw from the race.

The RBF is currently serving a suspension because of its inability to resolve longstanding institutional and legal issues. FIBA's Central Board has exceptionally granted the country's players and officials (coaches, referees, commissioners) the right to participate in FIBA events.
