Iberostar Tenerife crowned FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2020 champions
Iberostar Tenerife overcame Segafredo Virtus Bologna 80-72 in the Final on Sunday to be proclaimed champions of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2020.
TENERIFE (Spain) - Spanish club Iberostar Tenerife overcame Italy's Segafredo Virtus Bologna 80-72 in the Final on Sunday to be proclaimed champions of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup 2020.
Tenerife, who hosted the Final Four of the competition as runners up of Basketball Champions League 2019, conquered the title for the second time, after reaching the top of the podium in 2017.

The hosts had also won the 2017 edition of the Basketball Champions League and lost in the Final of that competition in 2019 to Bologna.
Brazilian international and Tenerife captain Marcelinho Huertas was named MVP of the event after leading the way in the Final with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Earlier on Sunday, reigning DIRECTV Liga de las Americas champions San Lorenzo de Almagro had defeated NBA G League champions Rio Grande Valley Vipers to take third place.
The event attracted global media attention and FIBA Honorary President and Chairman of Basketball Champions League Americas Horacio Muratore, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis, Basketball Champions League Chairman of the Board Markus Studer, Basketball Champions League CEO Patrick Comninos were in attendance.
This was the second edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup to feature the reigning champions of the NBA G League, Basketball Champions League and DIRECTV Liga de las Americas.
