Hometown heroes Lausanne look to dazzle at FIBA 3x3 Lausanne Super Quest 2024

LAUSANNE (Switzerland) - Lausanne (SUI) will be out to continue their home dominance as a loaded draw fights for two tickets to the Chengdu Masters during the FIBA 3x3 Lausanne Super Quest 2024 on April 4-5. 

 

Let's preview the action. 

The Favorites

We just have to start with the Swiss Maestros, who always perform at top gear on their home half-court.

Real ones would know that from watching the Lausanne Masters over all these years, where host Lausanne almost annually are a contender much to the delight of their beloved fans. 

And the home crowd at the Super Quest will be treated to several of their long-time heroes, including Westher Molteni who was part of Lausanne's title at the final of Japan’s 3x3.EXE Super Premier Pro League. 

'King Wes' will combine in a deadly one-two punch with magician Gilles Martin, who you just know has invented new tricks with the Wilson that you've never seen before. 

 

But Lausanne will be challenged with top seed Riffa (BRN) ready to put on a show.

Thibaut Vervoort has shown glimpses this season of returning to 'Must See TV' from a couple of years ago, while Dennis Donkor isn't just a defensive menace but also a certified bucket getter. 

 

Former Lausanne star Carlos Martinez is hoping to lead Morges (SUI) to an early season statement and their chances look good with Frenchman Raphael Wilson having put up buckets for years. 

The Field

Toronto (CAN) are also a threat because they have dudes who have lit up the half-court for years. Bikramjit Gill aka 'the Bearded King' is an OG dunker, while speedy Alex Johnson can get his shot off whenever he wants to. 

It might be too early to put them as a leading contender, but St. Pauli (GER) might just be the most entertaining team to watch. That's because they have young superstars Denzel Agyeman and Fabian Giessmann ready to unleash. 

These talented teenagers have already dominated at the youth level, but are now set to take over on the big stage. 

 

There are plenty of dark horses in the tournament with three other teams from Switzerland set to ride the support from their passionate fans.

While the draw also boasts a pair of teams from France and Puerto Rico, who are looking to make a name for themselves. 

 

What's at stake

The top 2 teams will qualify for the Chengdu Masters on June 22-24 as part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour.
