MUNICH (2010 FIBA World Championship) - Germany's national team boss Dirk Bauermann will coach a club side again as well after the FIBA World Championship.

FC Bayern have announced they have reached agreement with the veteran tactician to lead the side in Germany’s second division next season.

Germany Basketball Federation president Ingo Weiss says the appointment is good news for everyone.

"Dirk Bauermann has repeatedly proven to be a very good coach and a great person," Weiss said.

"He did a great job for the German national team and will continue doing so.

"German basketball can only profit from his engagement with Bayern Munich.

"I want to explicitly thank my friend Bernd Rauch (Bayern Munich vice president) for his big commitment to basketball in Munich and particularly with Bayern Munich."

Bauermann left his job as Brose Baskets Bamberg coach in May of 2008 to focus solely on the national team following a new rule which prevented him from leading a Beko Basketball Bundesliga side and the national team at the same time.

Bauermann was eager to hold the reins of a club again.

"I look forward to the challenging task in Munich," Bauermann said.

"At the moment, my focus is on the upcoming World Championship in Turkey, but immediately after my full dedication is with Bayern Munich.”

Bauermann will take over an FC Bayern team that had been led by Michael Schwarz.

Schwarz is the coaching coordinator with the FIBA Europe Technical Department.

"Doing both, working at FIBA Europe and coaching was not possible and I wanted to focus on my job at FIBA Europe," Schwarz said.

"I am very happy that FC Bayern hired such a prestigious coach to guide them in the future."

Schwarz is in charge of the FIBA Europe Coaching Certificate program, one that has played to rave reviews.

At the front of Bauermann’s thoughts right now is Germany’s national team.

The Germans impressed with a young team at last year's EuroBasket and received a wild card to play at the 24-team event.

They will compete against Argentina, Serbia, Australia, Angola and Jordan in Group A.

Bauermann will attempt to lead Bayern to Beko Basketball Bundesliga promotion, though it's unclear that if successful, whether or not he will again have to choose between club and country.
