LONDON (EuroBasket Women) - Great Britain have named the 12 players to compete at the EuroBasket Women, which gets underway on Saturday in Poland.

Playing in the Final Round for the first time, Britain are hoping to build some confidence ahead of next year’s Olympics in London.

The Brits have taken part in numerous friendly games and while results haven’t been good, coach Tom Maher likes the way his team has been developing.

“It has been a good mixture of training and preparation games,” he said.

“Playing games against A-level teams has been a step progression and has given the team challenges they are likely to face in the EuroBasket.

“We feel confident in the work that has been put in over the last six weeks.

“Our preparation has been key. We have a challenging pool group and we need to ensure as individuals and as a team that we do our best.”

The Brits are competing in Group B of the EuroBasket Women against Belarus, the Czech Republic and Israel.

Britain have one more warm-up game on Wednesday night at Slovakia before travelling to Bydgoszcz, Poland.

Great Britain squad: Rose Anderson, Kim Butler, Kate Butters, Stef Collins, Chantelle Handy, Jo Leedham, Ros Mason, Julie Page, Natalie Stafford, Azania Stewart, Lauren Thomas-Johnson and Rachel Vanderwall.
