France look to continue home dominance at FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Clermont-Ferrand 2024 Stop

CLERMONT-FERRAND (France) - No.2 seed France are hoping to stamp their home dominance at the FIBA 3x3 Women's Series Clermont-Ferrand Stop 2024 on June 14-15. 

Let's take a closer look at the fifth Women's Series event of the season.

The Favorites

France are always a powerhouse no matter where they play. But on their home half-court, France are nearly impregnable as they showed by winning the title recently in Marseille. 

Marie-Eve Paget and Marie Mane were unstoppable during that triumph and they will be back to lead France's charge. 

But to win the title they might need to face a friendly rival - No.1 seed Canada. They'll look to superstar Katherine Plouffe to dominate the paint and she'll form a devastating one-two punch with Paige Crozon.  

After stunningly clinching a Paris Olympic ticket, Azerbaijan have stamped themselves as a contender. And after becoming a national hero, Alexandra Mollenhauer is a legit superstar as she will be out to prove in Clermont-Ferrand. 

Germany are the fourth team in the draw heading to the Olympics, but before then they'll want to taste sweet success on the half-court. 

The Germans have every chance at winning a title, especially if Sonja Greinacher goes into beast mode in the paint. 

The Netherlands endured the heartbreak of missing a ticket to Paris and that just means the European champs will be out for revenge. 

The Field 

The top of this 12-team draw is absolutely loaded, but that doesn't mean another team can't emerge and go on a giant-killing run. 

Austria and China U24 arrive confident after reaching the semis in Ulaanbaatar, while Gyor (HUN) have young assassin Orsolya Toth who is deadly from deep. 

There is another talented French team in the draw and that is hometown heroes Clermont-Ferrand (FRA), who boast insanely talented Eve Wembanyama. Who do you think taught her younger brother Victor Wembanyama everything he knows?  

Puerto Rico are a threat because they have OG Mari Placido, while the Philippines loom as a dark horse with Kaye Pingol set to show off her crazy skills that will make her a crowd favorite.
