France bask in home support yet again as they clean house in Orleans.
With their core taking the court in Myriam Djekoundade, Laetitia Guapo, Marie-Eve Paget and Hortense Limouzin, they made quick work of their opposition in Pool phase. They dispatched off Austria in the opener 22-8 after a statement game from La Guapa who put up 11 in the winning effort.
She doubled up in their next game against Czechia where another 11-point outburst took France past Czechia 22-9. Djekoundade was immense on defense while also notching 7 points herself.
It was another drubbing in the Quarter-Final as a superb game by Paget and Guapo sealed a 22-6 victory against Poland.
It set up what one would have assumed to be a tightly contested battle against Canada, but it was easy work yet again for the French as they came away with a 21-12 victory. A huge 7 points and 11 rebounds from Djekoundade was pivotal in the tie.
The runner-up: Clermont-Ferrand
The other French side in Orleans didn’t do too bad themselves. They started off with a statement 15-21 victory off the back of a collective showing from Clermont-Ferrand. They made it 2-2 in Pool phase with an 18-11 win. Camille Droguet put up 5 points and 10 rebounds in the result.
Eve Wembanyama and Droguet combined for 10 in their Quarter-Final win over Gyor. They booked their spot in the final after a huge result against Italy, 21-19. Noemie Brochant put up 9 points while Marie Milapie chipped in with 6.

France 20 - 19 Clermont-Ferrand
Marie Milapie and Camille Droguet started off hot for Clermont-Ferrand, giving them an early advantage in the all French affair. However, Myriam Djekoundade kept her side in it. With a 6-3 lead in the initial third of the game, it was France’s Marie-Eve Paget that answered the call.
It was a two-point barrage from the French star as her 12 points proved to be immense. Coming down to the last few seconds, Wembanyama scored a crucial bucket to tie the game. sending it to OT.
Droguet gets a point for her side but it’s Paget who once again comes in clutch. A decisive two handed France yet another win at home.
