PARIS (2010 FIBA World Championship) - France have cut injured pair Antoine Diot and Kevin Seraphin from their preliminary squad for the 2010 FIBA World Championship as they begin their training camp in Pau.
Coach Vincent Collet had wanted to give each player a chance to prove he could recover from his problem, but with neither close to a return they have been released.
"Antoine Diot and Kevin Serpahin, who are returning from injury, will not be ready in time to play a full role in Pau," said team director Patrick Beesley. "They will not participate in the summer campaign with France.
"We called up these two players knowing about their injuries. But we said we would not risk the health of the two players and we anticipated this by calling up 18 players. These two players will not be replaced."
The rest of the France squad will spend the next two weeks training in Pau before facing Tunisia in a friendly on August 7.
They will then travel to Toronto to play Canada and then the United States in New York.
France's final warm-up for the World Championship will come in a tournament against Cote d'Ivoire, Australia and Brazil in Villeurbanne.
