Flagg among five FIBA U17 World Cup champs on USA roster for Nike Hoop Summit
COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - Five FIBA U17 World Cup winners highlight the USA roster for the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit exhibition on April 13, highlighted by superstar talent Cooper Flagg.
COLORADO SPRINGS (USA) - Five FIBA U17 World Cup winners highlight the USA roster for the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit exhibition on April 13, highlighted by superstar talent Cooper Flagg.
The 17-year-old Flagg was named to the All-Star Five in helping United States win the title at the FIBA U17 Basketball World Cup 2022.
Four of Flagg's teammates in the 2022 summer have also been included in the roster for the USA at the 25th Hoop Summit, which will be played in Portland in the spring. Those U17 world champions from 2022 are David Castillo, Johnuel "Boogie" Fland, Ian Jackson and Asa Newell.

Jackson and Newell were also on the USA team at last summer's FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2023 where the Americans finished fourth. Jackson and Newell were teammates with two other players who will be playing at the Hoop Summit as well - Dylan Harper and Tre Johnson.
Another Hoop Summit team member Jayden Quaintance meanwhile was on the USA side that won the crown at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2023 to qualify for this summer's U17 World Cup.

The other four Hoop Summit players for USA - Airious "Ace" Bailey, Isaiah Evans, Morez Johnson and Patrick Ngongba - will be making their USA Basketball competitive debuts in Portland in April.
The head coach of the USA team will be Sharman White, who will be assisted by Frank Bennett and Nick LoGalbo. White coached Quaintance and the USA team at the FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2023. He was also assigned to be the USA select team at the 2020 Hoop Summit, which was not played due to the Covid pandemic.
USA holds a 17-7 record against the World Select team, including having won the last three editions in 2019, 2022 and 2023 and five of the last six showcases.
