    Five cut from USA camp, U19 Worlds squad down to 16

    COLORADO SPRINGS (2015 FIBA U19 World Championship) - United States head coach Sean Miller cut five players from his training camp for the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship, trimming his preliminary roster to 16 players.

    Miller, who hopes to lead the United States to the country's first successful defence of the U19 Worlds title since 1983, cut T.J. Leaf, Silas Melson, Eric Paschall, Malik Pope and Seventh Woods after four sessions at the on-going training camp.

    Woods was the only of the five players sent home who has featured for the USA in national team competitions in the past, playing at the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship.

    Miller still has four more players to cut before the team's departure planned for 21 June.

    The USA will face Croatia, Egypt and Iran in Group A at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship from 27 June-5 July in Heraklion (Crete), Greece, where they will enter the competition as the reigning champions.

    USA preliminary roster for 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship: Justin Bibbs, Isaiah Briscoe, Jalen Brunson, Brekkott Chapman, Vince Edwards, Jawun Evans, Terrance Ferguson, Harry Giles, Josh Jackson, Riley LaChance, Chinanu Onauku, L.J. Peak, Caleb Swanigan, Jayson Tatum, Allonzo Trier, Thomas Welsh.
