    FIBA YDP SuperCamp successful in Salt Lake City

    MIAMI (United States) – FIBA, in collaboration with the Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy, hosted the Youth Development Program (YDP) Super Camp, between July 14 and 17 in Salt Lake City, Utah...

    The Super Camp marked the launch of the first YDP camp for girls. In total there were 30 players who participated. There were 10 girls and 15 boys representing the Americas’ region and five other young players from the YDP in Africa. The Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy facilities hosted these young athletes through their various activities. 

    After the camp, the best campers were recognized. Mamadou Fall Thiam from Senegal was awarded MVP among the boys, and Manuella Fernandes Barros Alves from Brazil stood out as the girls’ MVP. She also won the camp's three-point shooting tournament.

     

    The elite players in the boys category were Kenneth Rodríguez (Puerto Rico), Jalen Le Don Pichardo (Dominican Republic), Diego Sulbarán (Venezuela), Alejandro Avilés (Puerto Rico) and Malik Diallo (Mali). The girls’ elite players were Sol Depetris (Argentina), Alexia Araujo Dagba (Brazil), Dianne Crespo (Puerto Rico), Antonia Basualdo (Uruguay) and Camila De Pool (Puerto Rico).

    Egypt's Adam Elhalawany won the Sportsmanship Award and Gabon's Kanga Lendouga Emmanuel won the Hustle Award.

    The objective of FIBA’s ​​YDP is to develop and elevate young talent, both boys and girls, who represent or will represent their national teams in the near future. For this Super Camp the players were selected from the previous seven YDP camps that were held during this year, from competitions in the region, and nominations from national federations.

     

    The camp was instructed by the coaches and staff of the Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy, along with FIBA's world-class coaches from across the Americas, who were in charge of running the activities during the event.

     

    RSL also provided dorms and meals for athletes and coaches, as well as tours of the city of Utah, including visiting the NBA Utah Jazz’s arena.
