NONTHABURI (FIBA U18 Asian Championship 2018) - The official logo for the FIBA U18  Asian Championship has been unveiled on FIBA’s social media channels.

The logo is inspired by 'Hanuman', the popular mythical superhero and one of the central characters in the ancient Hindu epic Ramayana.  Hanuman is viewed as the ideal combination of "strength, heroic initiative and assertive excellence”. Exemplifying an amalgamation of superhuman speed, quickness and power, Hanuman’s robust physical prowess is the ideal description for the U18 delegates from many countries in Asia, and particularly hosts Thailand, where he is especially revered.

The red, white and blue of hosts Thailand’s national flag is also part of the logo.

Asia’s flagship event for youth national teams  will be held in Nonthaburi, Thailand from 5 to 11 August 2018 where 16 teams will battle for top honours.

The participating teams include perennial Asian heavyweights and 11 time champions China, Iran, Korea, Japan, Philippines as well as top teams from different Asian sub-zones.  Oceanian powerhouses Australia and New Zealand will also make their debut in the tournament.

Iran is the defending champion from the previous edition with Japan and Korea securing silver and bronze respectively.

The Draw ceremony will take place on July 6 at Mono 29 Stadium in Nonthaburi, Thailand.
