Further proof of women's hoops' continued strength and growth

SHENZHEN (China) - In yet another solid proof of growing interest in women's basketball, the recent FIBA U18 Women's Asia Cup 2024 concluded with major success after garnering massive numbers, especially on live streaming. Combining the figures of Divisions A and B altogether, the 26th edition of the tournament held on June 24-30 drew a total of 20.6 million live views, collated from FIBA's official YouTube page and Chinese social media platforms. The Final alone on June 30 attracted 5.65 million live views, which witnessed Australia pull away late to defeat China anew, 96-79, to retain the crown.

There was an extraordinary rise in the number of website page views recorded as well, with an increase from 537,216 page views at the previous edition in Bengaluru, India in 2022 to a spectacular 2.98 million page views this time around.

These achievements complement one of FIBA's strategic priorities for the current four-year working cycle, Women in Basketball, highlighting FIBA's dedication to advancing the sport for women worldwide and increasing the fan base of women's competitions across all regions.

These U18 Women's Asia Cup figures, furthermore, confirm the continuous growth of interest in basketball, particularly in Asia, as FIBA stives to provide engaging platforms for fans to follow their region's rising stars and further build and strengthen its global basketball community.
