MIAMI (United States) - The FIBA's Youth Development Program (YDP) in the Americas is set to return with a SuperCamp scheduled to take place in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, from July 14 to 17, 2022.

The SuperCamp will mark the launch of girls YDP for the first time. The event will be held in partnership with the Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy, whose venue will host the event as well as provide dorms and meals for the athletes and coaches. The purpose of FIBA’s YDP is to develop and elevate the top young talent in the Americas, for both boys and girls, who will represent their National Teams in the near future.

The camp will see the participation of 39 players born between 2006 and 2007. From the Americas, 17 boys and 12 girls from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Uruguay, Venezuela, Ecuador, Jamaica, and Canada will meet in Utah. Ten players from the FIBA Youth and Development Program in the African region will also participate in the camp.

Prior to this year's SuperCamp, seven YDP camps were held in the Americas. Players for the SuperCamp were selected from previous YDP camps and competitions held in the region, as well as nominations from national federations.

Real Salt Lake Basketball Academy coaches and staff together with FIBA world-class coaches across the Americas will be in charge of carrying out the activities through the event.
