    FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 hit new heights with outstanding digital growth

    There were some remarkable levels of engagement at the most successful FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments ever.

    MIES (Switzerland) - The FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 (OQT's) were the most successful ever after achieving spectacular levels of digital engagement to further underline the ever-growing popularity of basketball globally. Taking place in Piraeus, Greece; Riga, Latvia; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Valencia, Spain, there was sky-high and unprecedented interest across all digital platforms as fans showed their appetite for the exciting fight to take the last four remaining tickets to Paris 2024.

    FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 digital growth compared to the previous edition in 2021

    With an excess of headline names and many exciting plays and games, there was a dramatic rise in the number of video views. The overall total increased by an impressive 14 times in comparison to the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments held in 2021.

    There was also a record-breaking number of impressions which went beyond a major landmark for the first time at 1.08 billion. This represented a 325 percent increase from three years earlier.

    In terms of social media engagements, this figure also rose steeply to 20.5 million - an increase of 138 percent from 2021.

    There was a noticeable surge in engagements on Instagram, which rocketed from 26 percent of all engagements to 63 percent for this edition.

    Website traffic also soared, with triple the amount of visits compared to 2021. There were 1.2 million website visitors and they consumed 12.3 million page views.

    Almost a third of website visitors were female, with almost a quarter of site visitors under 25 years old and half under 35 years old.

    The record high engagement levels for the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024 also come in the wake of the FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournaments 2024, held in February, which saw an explosion in social media engagement, video views and website sessions, as well as a sold-out arena in Belgium.
