Gold Coast (Australia) - FIBA Oceania will launch the second phase of their Webinar series on May 4 that will focus on "Introduction to Youth Coaching".

The successful first phase of the webinar series in April featured a total of 14 webinars with various presenters and topics that featured coach and referee workshops with more than 500 participants from 21 National Federations participating in the webinars.

"We are delighted with the interest of the participants and was excited to see the growth of numbers as the series moved forward," said FIBA Executive Director David Crocker.

"Initially it was for targeted participants only but we continued to accept participants and to have over 20 countries join us is a fantastic development given the situation," he added.

The second phase features an "Introduction to Youth Coaching" course that will feature guest presenters Darren Perry (Planning Practice), Peter Lonergan (Teaching), Caleb Harrison (Body Movement and Ball Control), and Jacqui Dover (Rules of the Game).

The webinar project was spearheaded by FIBA Oceania Development Manager, Annie La Fleur.

"The Introduction to Youth Coaching Course has been designed to provide education to help coaches deliver and design appropriate programs for coaching the youth," La Fleur said.

"We are very fortunate to have elite coaches from Australia, New Zealand, and Guam who will be presenting with their wealth of experience and knowledge we are excited to help develop our participants through this experience," she added.
