    FIBA celebrates record-breaking growth for 3x3 in 2023

    MIES (Switzerland)- FIBA delivered a year of record growth for its 3x3 discipline across TV, digital and events in 2023, as the world's most popular urban team sport continues its incredible journey from the streets to the Olympic and world stage.  

    FIBA 3x3's digital channels have been the driving force of fan engagement, garnering 1.1 billion views across all platforms. Moreover, a remarkable 83% increase in new followers (6.1 million) compared to 2022 underlines the success of a tailored digital strategy.

    The recent action-packed 3x3 World Tour Final in Jeddah serves as a testament to the growing appetite of fans tuning in on TV around the world, with broadcasters covering the event in close to 40 territories. In total, broadcasters in more than 170 countries, a 112% increase from the previous year, brought 3x3 to millions of new households worldwide. This surge in interest, driven by international broadcasters, was supported by an expanded event programme. Featuring 18 FIBA 3x3 World Tour events in iconic cities and a 47% increase in FIBA 3x3 Challengers (23 events), the year provided invaluable opportunities for athletes and nations alike. 

    2023 also saw a record-breaking 23 3x3 Women's Series events, exceeding the 15 held in 2019. This increase underlines FIBA 3x3's unwavering commitment to promoting, uniting, and developing the game of basketball for all.

    With 3,522 games played across a total of 169 events, FIBA is now ready to welcome thousands of loyal fans to their first-ever 3x3 Olympic tournament in Paris 2024. This landmark event promises to be a spectacular celebration of 3x3.
