Laos has finally agreed to officially include basketball as among the sports to be played in the 2009 Southeast Asian Games in Vientiane.

Laos earlier had wanted to scrap the country’s favorite sport since they have problems regarding the venue and financial resources for the operation of the Games.

But Philippine Olympic Committee sports and rules committee chairman Go Teng Kok worked hard and successfully got the support of the other SEA Games member countries to endorse basketball during the General Assembly meeting of the SEAG Federation Council last Friday. –
