FIBA Asia Cup 2025 brand revealed, inspired by traditional Ardah dance

    Press Release

The reveal of the official FIBA Asia Cup 2025 brand marks an important milestone to the flagship competition next year

Riyadh (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) – The countdown to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 reached a key milestone on Tuesday with the unveiling of the tournament’s official brand.

The region’s continental cup brand reveal ceremony took place in the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee headquarters and was attended by FIBA Executive Director Asia, Mr. Hagop Khajirian, CEO and Secretary General of the Saudi Arabian Olympic and Paralympic Committee, Mr. Abdulaziz Baeshen; and SBF President, Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi.

The visual identity for the upcoming Asia Cup, to be hosted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from 5-17 August 2025, draws inspiration from the Ardah dance, a traditional symbol of Saudi culture. The design fuses Ardah's rhythmic movements with the agility of basketball players, reflecting a blend of tradition and athleticism.

The logo captures the celebratory spirit of Ardah alongside the dynamism of basketball, symbolizing a vibrant celebration of both cultural heritage and high-level competition. It not only mirrors the iconic FIBA Asia Cup trophy but also incorporates elements of the sport—ranging from the court, the players, and the cheering fans to the Ardah dance, with its dancers and drummers.

"The logo we unveil today to tip off a countdown of sorts to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 is a testament to the progress made by Asian basketball in the recent past as well as the potential it promises in the near future," said Mr. Hagop Khajirian, FIBA Executive Director - Asia.

"Simple in its presentation, but resplendent in production the logo represents Asian basketball in one shot - We keep it simple, but we mean business."

Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, President of the Saudi Basketball Federation, added, "Saudi Arabia is eager to welcome the Asian basketball family to experience a unique blend of rich tradition and forward-looking spirit. The logo reflects this vision, combining traditional symbols with the lavender color, inspired by the natural beauty of Saudi Arabia’s indigenous lavender tree. We look forward to welcoming everyone to enjoy the sport, the culture, and the bright future that lies ahead."

The road to the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 began in February 2024 with the first of three qualification windows to determine the 16 teams heading to Jeddah. The second window, set for 21–25 November 2024, will be crucial in shaping the path for teams aiming to secure their spot in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025.
