    FIBA Americas Youth Events Schedule 2021 adjusted

    MIAMI (United States) – FIBA Regional Office in the Americas in consultation with FIBA Headquarters have made a decision to cancel youth events in the Americas for the next 90 days.

    MIAMI (United States) – FIBA Regional Office in the Americas in consultation with FIBA Headquarters have made a decision to cancel youth events in the Americas for the next 90 days. This decision was made after consulting various health authorities across the zone and making sure that the health of young players and staff came first during this difficult time of COVID-19. Considering the challenges that the pandemic has brought upon all our competitions, the following events, all carried over from last year, are now cancelled:

    FIBA U16 Centrobasket Championship & FIBA U16 Centrobasket Women's Championship South American U16 Championship & South American U16 Women's Championship FIBA Americas U18 Championship & FIBA Americas U18 Women's Championship [/unordered]

    Following the cancelation of these tournaments, the criteria to determine the qualified teams for Continental and World events will be the official FIBA World Rankings presented by NIKE. You can find the link to the FIBA World Rankings Boys here and Girls here.

    The following teams will be qualified for the FIBA U16 Americas Championships (Men/Women):

    From Centrobasket U16 Championship: Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Mexico*
    If Mexico* remains suspended U.S. Virgin Islands will take its place

    From Centrobasket U16 Women’s Championship: Mexico, Puerto Rico, and El Salvador
    If Mexico* remains suspended Dominican Republic will take its place

    From South American U16 Championship: Argentina, Brazil, and Chile

    From South American U16 Women’s Championship: Argentina, Brazil, and Chile

    The following teams will be qualified to the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup:

    From FIBA U18 Americas Championship: USA, Canada, Argentina, and Puerto Rico

    From FIBA U18 Women's Americas Championship: USA, Canada, Brazil, and Argentina

    FIBA Regional Office in the Americas will continue to monitor the pandemic closely across the region to gage the impact that it will have on youth events beyond the 90 days.
