    FIBA Africa Zone 4 clubs to face off in Kinshasa

    KINSHASA - Eleven basketball clubs - men and women - from the central region of Africa are set to do battle in Kinshasa for the right to qualify for upcoming FIBA Africa Clubs Championships.

    KINSHASA - Eleven basketball clubs - men and women - from the central region of Africa are set to do battle in Kinshasa for the right to qualify for upcoming FIBA Africa Clubs Championships.

    From Saturday, October 27 to Saturday, November 3, FIBA Africa Zone 4 clubs from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, and Cameroon will try to join Africa's best basketball clubs later this year at FIBA Africa's flagship clubs competitions.

    In the women's qualifiers, the host nation will be represented by INSS and V Club, FAP will be bearing Cameroon's flag, AS Estuaire will represent Gabon while, Equatorial Guinea will make their presence by two sides, namely Living Sport Academy and Los Angeles Basket.

    Congolese outfit INSS will try to return to the continental showpiece for the first time since 2014, while Cameroon's FAP aim to join a competition they last featured in 2016, where they claimed a sixth-place finish in a ten-team competition held in Maputo, Mozambique.

    The teams that finish in the top two places of the Zone 4 qualifiers will earn the right to play in the 2018 edition of the FIBA ACCW which will take place from November 16-25 in Mozambique. 

    Meanwhile, in the men's competition, ASB Mazembe and BC Terreur will represent DR Congo, CAS 1987 Phoenix will represent Gabon while San Antonio and Jet 7 CB will carry Equatorial Guinea's flag.

    The top two teams will qualify for the FIBA AfroLeague which will tip off in January 2019.
