FIBA Africa Zone 3 sets new goals, recomposes executive board
LOME - In line with the directive of FIBA Africa Central Board, the FIBA Africa Zone 3 in its extraordinary meeting, held last month, set new targets and recomposed its executive board.
LOME - In line with the directive of FIBA Africa Central Board, the FIBA Africa Zone 3 in its extraordinary meeting, held last month, set new targets and recomposed its executive board.
According to a statement from the secretariat of the Zone at the end of the meeting held in Lome, Togo, the reshaped executive board which was adopted and endorsed unanimously by all seven presidents’ of national federations that attended the meeting has Sam Ahmedu of Nigeria as President.
With the office of vice president expunged and the Zone’s former Secretary General Florent Bah now unavailable, Musa Kida of Nigeria has been appointed new Secretary General and Treasurer of the Zone.
Others Zone Board executive members include Coffi Tonon of Benin Republic who is head of the Technical Council, Iddrisu Ayambire of Ghana is head of the Youth/Competitions Council. Blaise Coulibaly replaces Musa Adamu of Cote d’ Ivoire on the board in charge of National Federations Council, Madame Lima Sidonie of Benin Republic is at the head of the Women Basketball Council while the former head of competitions Djebre Boukari of Burkina Faso is now the head of the Coaches Council.
Two new members of the Zone executive boards include Andre Goungou of Togo, who is in charge of the Media Council and Guillaume Oule of Cote d’ Ivoire is the head of the Medical Council.
The term of the Zone executive board that was elected in Burkina Faso in 2014 runs till 2019.
The statement also approved the setting up of the Zone headquarters to which Niger, Benin, and Nigeria are to submit proposals that will determine the base of the headquarters.
However, office to handle secretariat duties is to be opened in Lagos Nigeria.
The meeting also called for the improved attendance of teams to competitions in the Zone and agreed to intensify its sponsorship drive.
