LIPIK (Croatia) – The FIBA 3x3 Challengers – the international qualifiers to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour – are back after 20 months with a first stop in Lipik, Croatia on May 21-22, 2021.

LIPIK (Croatia) – The FIBA 3x3 Challengers – the international qualifiers to the FIBA 3x3 World Tour – are back after 20 months with a first stop in Lipik, Croatia on May 21-22, 2021.

While the World Tour never stopped, the other events on the 3x3 professional circuit had to pause in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. No Challenger action had been going since the Jeju Challenger in South Korea on October 5-6, 2019 (when Ulaanbaatar MMC Energy (MGL) became the first-ever All-Asian team to win a Challenger).

Having the Challengers is good news for the professionalization of the game as an increased 35k USD in prize money will be at stake this season in every Challenger (compared to a total of 110k USD prize money per event in World Tour Masters).

Lipik has been one of the most historic organizers in the new game of 3x3, hosting a Challenger since 2016.

More Challengers will be announced at a later date on the Challengers section of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour website.
