LILLE (France) - The pairings for the Quarter-Finals of the Men's and Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament Paris 2024 will be determined by a draw following the conclusion of the Group Phase.

Before the draw can take place, the eight qualified teams and the seedings for each pot must be determined.

After the conclusion of the Group Phase

The three teams finishing first in Groups A, B and C will be put together in a new group to determine positions 1, 2 and 3.

The three teams finishing second in Groups A, B and C will be put together in a new group to determine positions 4, 5 and 6.

The three teams finishing third in Groups A, B and C will be put together in a new group to determine 7, 8 and 9. The team who is in 9th position will be eliminated from the competition.

In order to determine the positions of the teams, article D.4 'Cross-group classifications' of the Official Basketball rules will apply. The teams in the same position in each group shall be placed together and the following criteria shall be used in the following order:

    • Better win-loss record of all games played in their revised final group standings.

    • Higher game points difference of all games in their revised final group standings.

    • Higher number of game points scored in all games in their revised final group standings.

    • If this criteria still cannot decide, the relevant FIBA Ranking shall decide on the final classification.
