REGGIO EMILIA (Italy) - Reggio Emilia have dedicated a city square in honor of basketball legend Kobe Bryant and his daughter, Gianna Bryant - one year on from their tragic deaths.

A ceremony took place today in the Italian city to mark the unveiling of "Largo Kobe and Gianna Bryant" in a touching tribute.

UNAHOTELS Reggio Emilia are competing in the FIBA Europe Cup for the first time this season, and opened their campaign with a 70-69 victory over Belfius Mons-Hainaut, in Den Bosch.

Kobe Bryant lived in Reggio Emilia for a few years during his childhood; playing for the club's youth teams between 1989-91, while his father, Joe Bryant played for the professional team.

The city's mayor Luca Vecchi was present for the ceremony alongside President of the Chamber of Commerce, Stefano Landi. Meanwhile, Italian internationals Luigi Datome and Nicolo Melli will be among speakers at a later event as the city remembers Kobe Bryant.
