SASSARI (Italy) - Dinamo Sassari power forward Rashawn Thomas inscribed his name into the FIBA Europe Cup record books with a historic performance the competition had not seen over the years.
The 203cm (6ft 8in) big man from the United States set new all-time single game records in scoring and efficiency, as the Italian club trounced ZZ Leiden 94-68 in the second leg of the Round of 16 to advance in the Play-Offs.
Having gone an excellent 15-of-22 from the field, Thomas finished the contest with 40 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 blocks and a steal for an overall efficiency of 54, allowing Sassari to sail into the Quarter-Finals, having also won the first game.
The previous FIBA Europe Cup all-time best mark for efficiency had been in place since the 2016-17 season, when Donar Groningen forward Chase Fieler registered a ranking of 46.
Meanwhile, before being broken by Thomas, the old scoring high of 39 points was co-owned by former Nanterre 92 man Spencer Butterfield and John Roberson of Elan Chalon, who both hit the mark in the spring of 2017.
