"I am very happy about our success. I think the guys on the team and the fans deserve it," said coach Aleksic in the post-game press conference. "It was very important that we stopped Darrin Govens. We were able to use the fact that Falco's rotation was shorter and we had a physical advantage in that regard. This contributed to our victory."
Despite playing the entire 40 minutes, Falco's go-to player, Govens was limited to just 11 points on 4-of-11 shooting, with Milos Borisov collecting a team-high 14 points.
Both teams took part in the FIBA Europe Cup this season and even faced off against each other in Group H of the Regular Season, splitting the two games. Szolnoki Olaj reached the Second Round of the competition, while Falco Vulcano did not make it past the preliminary phase.
It was the seventh time that Szolnoki Olaj lifted the Tibor Zsiros trophy, named after the legendary Hungarian basketball player. They had last triumphed in the competition back in 2015.
En route to the triumph in Sunday's title clash, Szolnok eliminated KTE-Duna in the Quarter-Final and topped previous title-holders Alba Fehervar in the Semi-Final.
