GRAVELINES (FIBA Europe Cup) - With less than a week remaining until the start of their FIBA Europe Cup campaign, BCM Gravelines (FRA) announced having signed former France international Florent Pietrus.

The 35-year-old veteran inked a one-year deal and is expected to join his new teammates in practice on Friday. The forward could make his official debut as soon as Saturday, when Gravelines welcome Elan Bearnais at the Sportica in LNB Pro A weekend action.

Quite interestingly, the Pau-Lacq-Orthez club is where Pietrus started his professional career.

The player spent the past three seasons with SLUC Nancy Basket.

Christian Monschau's side turned to the free agent market after big man Fernando Raposo went down with a back injury that will sideline him for at least several weeks.

Having made his debut for France back in FIBA EuroBasket 2003 in Sweden, Pietrus retired from international basketball after the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as the all-time leader in caps for Les Bleus.

As a member of the national team, the forward became a FIBA EuroBasket champion in 2013 and medalled on three more occasions in the competition. Pietrus also won bronze in the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.
