    Race for MVP is heating up

    MATOSINHOS (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship) - With the Quarter-Finals in the books and the business end of the FIBA U20 Women's Championship now here, the race for MVP is heating up.

    We take a look at some of the frontrunners as we enter the last weekend of the competition.

    Maeva Djaldi-Tabdi - France

    It's been an incredible week in the paint and the frontcourt star leads France in efficiency and rebounding. She is running on a tournament double-double of 10.8 points and 12.4 boards per game.

    Annamaria Prezelj - Slovenia 

    Back from FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017 with the seniors, she is pouring in a team-high 17.4 points per game and 3.2 assists per outing - as well as showing terrific composure in the clutch and her leadership qualities.

    Maria Conde - Spain

    Arriving in Matosinhos with a gold medal from FIBA EuroBasket Women 2017, Conde has not taken her foot off the gas and retained her focus and 'game face.' She is another great leader and in the top three for her side for efficiency, points, rebounds and assists.

    Ornella Bankole - France

     

    The red-hot form of France has been due to Bankole coming alive. She's a game-winner who can put points on the board quickly. Almost averaging a tournament double-double, she leads her country in scoring with 16.4 points per game, as well as pulling down 9.2 boards.

    Elizaveta Shabanova - Russia

    The flawless displays of Russia have been built on her fine 16.2 points and 7 rebounds per game. Shabanova also leads Russia in efficiency by quite some distance.

    Zala Friskovec - Slovenia

    The all-action game of Friskovec has made people sit up and take notice, since she has been a driving force in carrying them to an historic Semi-Finals spot. She leads Slovenia in efficiency and is also in the top three for points, rebounds and assists.

    Maria Araujo - Spain

    Showing she is a great senior team prospect under the basket, Araujo has combined her hard work and smart play to harvest an eye-catching 13.2 points and 6.8 rebounds. She is also Spain's most efficient player which speaks volumes about her understated, yet classy approach.

    Lisa Berkani - France

    With 14.2 points per game and also a team-high 4.6 assists per game, Berkani is showing exactly why she was picked in the WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx.

    Yulia Kozik - Russia

    The forward is putting Russia back on the map in Matosinhos by helping them post a perfect record so far with a classy tournament double-double of 14.4 points and 10.4 boards per game.

    Angela Salvadores - Spain

    No stranger to All-Star Fives and MVP accolades in her trophy-laden youth career, Salvadores is leading Spain in scoring with 16.4 points per game and is the kind of player who can be the difference-maker in the medal games.

    Or the other question is can someone can come up on the rails and post two huge displays in the Semi-Finals and Final?
