Montenegro jump out on Turkey to lift the trophy in Skopje

SKOPJE (North Macedonia) - Montenegro added on Sunday an extra special note alongside promotion when they stormed past Turkey 98-56 to win the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship, Division B title.

A stunning 16-0 start to the contest gave them a jump start and they never had cause to look back as they piled on the agony for Turkey.

Jovana Sakovic went 6 of 7 from the field en-route to 17 points, Maja Bigovic barely missed either as she added 14 points and Jovana Radonjic racked up 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.  

Slovenia were not a match for Israel in the Third-Place Game as they went down 82-64. Both nations at a low ebb after missing out on promotion, Israel responded to finish on a high note, with Yarden Garzon outstanding. She accumulated a brilliant 25 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. 

Greece powered their way to a top-five finish with ease as Ioanna Chatzileonti returned 18 points and 9 rebounds, with teammate Danai Papadopoulou contributing 20 points in a 74-49 victory.

Norway had no trouble nailing 7th place after breezing past North Macedonia 77-45, Karyn Sanford excelling with 26 points. Switzerland swept away Romania 79-52 in the battle for 9th place as Emma Chardon fired 21 points. Ukraine waltzed past Iceland 72-55 to tke 11th, helped by 16 points from Daria Dubniuk.

Slovakia secured 13th by sliding past Albania 78-56 thanks to 17 points and 8 assists from Simona Neuschlova. Kosovo squeezed out Armenia 70-64 to take 15th, with Agnesa Rrahmani amassing a spectacular 31 points. Croatia avoided last spot by beating Georgia 74-45 as Nika Kurdija claimed 16 points. 10 boards and 7 assists.
