    Malta star Galea named MVP

    ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2018, Division C) – Kristy Galea of Malta reeled in the Most Valuable Player honors at the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship 2018, Division C despite being denied gold by Gibraltar.

    The 18-year-old point guard had to settle for a second-place finish in the tournament following a surprise 56-49 defeat in the Final, during which she collected 7 points, 10 rebounds and 3 steals.

    In her five games in Andorra la Vella, Galea averaged a tournament-high 16.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.0 steals for an overall efficiency of 17.8 to headline the All-Star Five.

    The newly-crowned FIBA U18 Women's European Championship, Division C champions Gibraltar had two players among the tournament's top performers: Mireya Benitez Lopez and Marta Perez Castro.

    Meanwhile, Julia Marquez Tomas from the third-place Andorra and Maria Timbalari from fourth-ranked Moldova rounded out the All-Star Five.
