    All you need to know: FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket 2024, Division B

    This summer's FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket, Division B will see the top nations all looking for a spot in next year's showpiece competition for this age group. 

    PLOIESTI (Romania) - This summer's FIBA U18 Women's EuroBasket, Division B will see the top nations all looking for a spot in next year's showpiece competition for this age group.

    The tournament will take place from August 2-11 in Ploiesti, Romania.

    Who is participating?

    A total of 18 teams will compete for the title in Division B. They have been split into four groups with two groups of five and two groups of four. The Group Phase is as follows:

    Group A: Greece, Bulgaria, Ireland, North Macedonia, Norway Group B: Lithuania, Denmark, Netherlands, Great Britain Group C: Czechia, Iceland, Slovakia, Austria Group D: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Sweden, Ukraine, Montenegro

    What is the schedule?

    The Group Phase will take place across the first six days of the tournament with a rest day on August 5 before the Classification games begin on August 8. The competition will continue in the form of the bracket beginning with the Quarter-Finals, until the Final on August 11, with the Classification games also determining each of the 18 positions.

    The top three teams will earn promotion to Division A next summer.

    Who were the winners in 2023?

    Croatia were crowned winners of Division B after a convincing 93-66 win over Luxembourg last summer in Sofia, Bulgaria. Lucija Banovic led the winners with 25 points, while Petra Bozan also impressed as she put up 20 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists.

    The loss was hard on Luxembourg, but they found comfort knowing that they will join Croatia in this year's FIBA U18 EuroBasket tournament.

    Former MVPs

    Luxembourg's loss in the Final was a hard pill to swallow, especially for Faith Ehi Etute, who was the clear MVP of the tournament as she put together one of the showcases in international basketball.

    She averaged a staggering 31.5 points and 23.3 rebounds per outing, as well as averaging 6.2 steals and 4.3 assists for an efficiency rating of 43.8 with her masterpiece being 40 points, 33 rebounds, 8 steals and 6 assists against Romania.

    Roll of honor

    Croatia's win last summer was their third title triumph, which propelled them to the top of the standings ahead of Belarus and Hungary. Greece has the most total medals at the event, reaching the podium five times.
