VOLOS (Greece) - Slovenia, Turkey, Spain and Greece have reached the Semi-Finals, and their successes were fueled by outstanding individual games across all four Quarter-Finals.
Ziga Samar was Slovenia's hero with a 14-point, 14-assist, 10-rebound triple-double, carrying his nation to the Semi-Finals. Great Britain could not stop him, and he added a pair of steals to his line for good measure.
Nikolaos Rogkavopoulos felt the love of the packed stands in the Nea Ionia Hall, scoring 25 points, grabbing 15 rebounds, with a number of clutch shots down the stretch to see off Lithuania and book a trip to the Semi-Finals.
Spain had massive contributions from Usman Garuba and Javier Garcia, but the day belonged to Santi Aldama, who had 17 of his 25 points in the first half, putting some daylight between his team and Russia. Aldama also had 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks for Spain.
France suffered their first defeat of the campaign, and Tibet Gorener had all the shots when Turkey needed them. The sharp-shooting small forward finished with 16 points on 4-of-5 from the three-point line, when you combine that with Mustafa Kurtuldum's calmness from the free throw line, Alperen Sengun, Adem Bona and Furkan Haltali's rebounding, you get Turkey among the last four team standing.
